Jim Yoder Scores Third Win At Clinton County Motor Speedway; Perchak, VanAmburg, Bard & Raup Share Victory Lane

Lock Haven, PA- Jim Yoder’s on a roll at Clinton County Motor Speedway. Somehow, Yoder finds a way to win, even if he isn’t the fastest car on the track.

The Selinsgrove, PA driver scored 25 lap win number three of the season during June 21 racing action. Polesitter Luke Hoffner, of Turbotville, led lap one before giving way to Renova’s Kevin Probst. Yoder sat in third place after starting fifth. Yoder trailed Probst and, Hoffner who faded slightly on lap four, allowing Yoder to move into runner-up spot. Probst remained in front the first 19 circuits, logging the quickest laps of the race. Probst slid backwards to eventually finish third. Yoder moved in front on lap 20 and wasn’t challenged Yoder went on to score a 1.472 second win over runner up Matt Cochran. Probst finished third with Andrew Yoder fourth. Dylan Yoder was fifth. Sixth through eighth were Gary Mellott, Joe Loffredo and Tim Luben. The remainder of the field failed to finish. The scoring was Joe Lusk, JR Toner, Hoffner, Chad Desmett and Mike Smith. John Myers did not start the event.

Heat races were won by Smith and, Probst Caution periods came during lap one and 15 for Smith and Toner. Yoder celebrated the Smith Excavating & Construction victory with car owner Sam Ray and the S & R Towing & Recovery crew and fans.

Ross Perchak of Hazleton drove the Perchak Trucking no. 4 to the Weaver’s Radiator & Auto Repair/Jay Coder Excavating & Trucking 270 micro sprint feature, adding his name to the winners list and,leading the field in a non stop 15 lap feature event. Ryan McAndrew, Apollo, finished second with Jeff Weaver, Lock Haven, third. Troy Whitesel, Selinsgrove, and, Ethan Spotts, Middleburg, completed the top five. Sixth through tenth were Bobby Sanso, Skeetz Hockenbrock, Denny Rinehimer, Timmy Bitner, and, Nick Whitesel. Perchak’s margin of victory was 1.008 seconds. Heat races for the 21 car field were won by Perchak, McAndrew, and, Weaver.

Kevin VanAmburg of Lock Haven drove the Keystone Rail Recovery Service no. 8 to his first Millers Automotive Machine pro stock win of the season. VanAmburg’s margin of victory was 1.401 seconds over runner-up and, pole sitter John Zayjac. Robert Tressler, Lock Haven, finished third with Ray Rothfuss, Clarkstown, fourth. Rich Fye, Lock Haven, celebrated his birthday while finishing fifth. Sixth through ninth were Noah Jensen, Brad Myers, Nathan Stroup, and Wayne Shaffer. Van Amburg won the heat race.

Garrett Bard of Wells Tannery rolled on to win number four of the season during 600 micro sprint action. Bard’s margin of victory was 1.068 second over Josh Beamer, Picture Rocks, Bobby Sanso, Jersey Shore, finished third. Dariek Humenay, Grassflat, was fourth. Lauren Huffman, Lewistown, finshed fifth. Derek Swartz, Shelby Rowles and Mitchel Holden completed the field. Not finishing were Jeff Weaver, Nick Wood, Alan Rhodes and Don Werner. Jeff Gyuina did not start the event. Beamer and Bard won Heat races.

The TJ Shooters Sports Bar FWD 4 cylinder feature was won by Tim Raup over John Bower, Mike Campbell, Maddox Smith, Cody Stover, Adam Campbell and, Rob Williams. Tim Campbell did not finish the feature due to mechanical problems. Shawn Hadden did not start.

Raup led the first four laps before giving way to Mike Campbell. Adam Campbell led thru lap seven before Raup returned to the lead for good. Mike Campbell won the heat race.

Action continues Friday June 28 with the first ever visit by the Northeast Ultimate Super Late Model Series. Speedway officials expect Northeast Ultimate leaders to bring a field of travelers and the areas best late model drivers to the 3/8th mile oval for this extra distance, 40 lap feature which pays the winner $ 3,000 dollars. THe late models will run time trials. The Gary’s Motor Mart/Laurel Highlands IMCA sprint cars, Millers Automotive Machine pro stocks, and Weaver’s Radiator & Auto Repair/Jay Coder Excavating and Trucking 270 micro sprints are also part of the program. Gates open at 5 with warm-ups set for 7. Late Model Time Trials are set for 7:30.

General Admission is Adults, $ 18., Students, 12-17, $ 10., Under 12 Free. Pit admission is $ 35.

Camping is welcome for this special event. Cost per spot is $ 25 dollars each and includes electric and water hook up. A dumping station is on the grounds near the permanent restrooms.
